Tori Knowles: Identity & Style

Our new muse on the journal is super stunning Sydney based stylist Tori Knowles. Tori’s styling has an emphasis on identity that allows you to still see her celebrity’s individual style in her carefully crafted looks.

What do you love the most about styling?

Getting to make someone feel their most beautiful. It’s the coolest feeling when you see people look in the mirror and feel like their best self or even find a different side of themselves they never knew existed.

What’s your essential classic go-to uniform?

Probably a suit, I feel so put together in a suit. I love that I can dress it up or keep it cool and slouchy with sneakers.

Is less really more?

Yes! I live by less is more! In all aspects of life!

Favourite recent runway looks that we can all dream about owning?

Anything Schiaparelli, Daniel Roseberry can do no wrong in my eyes. I would die for the denim suit from the RTW FW ’24 collection. The SF24 Alaia show was also a dream. Give me one of those coats!

How do you love to incorporate jewellery into your styling looks? What are you looking for in the perfect piece and layering?

I really love an earring. Even just one statement earring can change a whole look. To me, the perfect piece has to have character and life, something you can wear every day. When layering I think it’s important to have a variety of textures and sizes, that way they can all feature in their own way.

Currently in your handbag?

My phone, lip balm, a $10 note, ginger tea, headphones, Haribo gummi bears and a polaroid of me and my best friend.

Any new and upcoming clothing designers we need to know about?

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt. She is a Belgium fashion school graduate. She worked for Givenchy and Balenciaga before focusing on her own collections. She creates the total chic, campy wardrobe I’d love to wear everyday.  Her season 3 collection was full of oversized blazers, shoulder pads and cinched waists. Fab.

What was your journey to becoming a stylist? Any advice for anyone who would love to follow in your footsteps?

I interned and assisted for a long time. It’s really about working with lots of people, networking and learning as much as you can from the people that inspire you. Be kind, keep asking questions and embrace your uniqueness – it’s what will set you apart from the rest.

When do you feel most yourself?

When I’m with my boyfriend or my best friends. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by a group of people that feel like they’re made of magic.

Who would be your dream person to style for the red carpet?

That’s so hard! For me, a lot of it depends on the vibe we have together and how we can collaborate to create something amazing. I’d love to style Harry Styles cause duh. I’d also love to work with Zendaya. Truly though, getting to style my best friend Ayesha Madon IS a dream.

Do you have treasured or sentimental pieces of jewellery that someone gave to you, or that you bought for yourself?

Yes. I wear my Nan’s gold curb chain nearly every day. It’s so special and very weighty, it’s like I can feel her with me.
